Children and families are welcome, and the event will take place rain or shine.
The cookout and gathering will enable local individuals and organizations working on such issues as affordable housing, community inclusiveness, poverty, hunger, war, immigrant rights, and more to meet and talk about pressing social and economic issues and actions that can be taken. Each group
will provide information on their programs and discuss their work during an open mic program.

Unitarian Universalism depends upon the strength of lay-leadership to flourish. Authority lies with our congregations and the ministries to which they are called. At the same time, we call and hire ministers, religious educators, administrators, and musicians to lead and guide our congregations.

Ideally the relationship between our professionals and our lay leadership is complementary and mutually beneficial, but inevitably some tension arises around who is responsible for what.
