Unitarian Universalists on Cape Cod will gather with others on New Years Day (January 1st) for an environmental justice discussion and a holiday walk around Eel Pond in Wood Hole. The theme for the year 2008 is "Energy, Peace, Justice." All people are invited.
A community discussion about environmental justice issues starts at 11:00 at the Woods Hole Community Hall. At noon, people move outdoors for a festive walk through the village and down to the ocean's edge. Families toast each other and their environment with non-alcoholic beverages.
For the year 2008, the theme is "Energy, Peace, Justice." Advocates for world peace will identify ways in which competition for fossil fuel supplies contributes to violence in the Middle East, Africa, and other parts of the world.... The problems of fuel poverty in America and in other nations will receive attention.... Environmental issues like global warming will be included in the conversation....
