November 4th Election Day is rapidly approaching
School Smarts, a non-partisan, volunteer community arts/education advocacy group, urges you to get out and VOTE next Tuesday!
While we are all focused on this very important national election, be sure to find out about Question #1 on the Massachusetts ballot.
Question #1 is legally binding legislation to repeal the state's income tax. If passed, this will go into effect within two months and lead to a cut of $12 billion, 40% of the state's operating budget.
To find out more about Question #1, attend a meeting being held tonight, Wed. Oct. 29th at 7:00pm, at the First Congregational Church 121 W. Foster Street, Melrose.
Melrose Mayor Rob Dolan, Wakefield Town Manager Steve Maio, Melrose Police Chief Lyle, Wakefield Police Chief Smith, Teachers, Health Care Professionals, Jack Beckley, Melrose Council on Aging, Dan O'Leary, Mystic Valley Elder Services, Rita McNamara, Wakefield Housing Authority and representatives from ARC and other human service providers will be at the event to discuss the impact and answer questions.
Other meetings that focus on the cultural community and arts non-profits are scheduled across the state, and are being organized by the Mass Advocates for Arts and Humanities. To find out more, visit www.maash.org
