Kids are People, too

I have a magnet on my refrigerator that says, "Kids are people, too." It is there to remind me-I sometimes forget.

I expect the kids to leave me a note if they are going somewhere and to call if they will be late, but sometimes I forget to tell them where I have gone.

Sometimes I introduce myself to new families at church and forget to ask the names of the children.

Sometimes my level of sight looks straight ahead, over the heads of smaller children.

Kids are people, too. We talk about how important they are to our future, and say that they are the future. But they are not just future adults. They are people now, in the present. Children are the present.
