The second annual Massachusetts event for energy justice will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 4th. The goal of the energy justice movement is to provide all people, in all places, with safe, affordable, and sustainable sources of energy. Several Unitarian Universalist groups are involved.
Last year's energy justice forum took place at Cape Cod Community College, in November. This year's gathering, for religious organizations, will take place at the Unitarian Universalist church, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. The event is co-sponsored by the Ballou Channing District. There will be presentations by Massachusetts Interfaith Power and Light; Cape Light Compact; the local Sierra Club organization; and human rights advocates. The Falmouth gathering will respond to three major questions, "How can religious organizations reduce their energy use? What can religious organizations do in order to encourage clean energy production? How can religious organizations work for energy justice with community organizations?" This is an environmental justice program.
The October 4th event is free but pre-registration is encouraged. The program will begin at 1:30 pm in Falmouth and it will end at 5:00 pm. A free dinner will be provided at the end of the meeting. All religious groups are invited. The church building is easily accessible for people with disabilities. For additional information, contact the Unitarian Universalists in Falmouth. admin@uuffm.org
