Standing on the Side of Love with Immigrant Families
This year UUs around the country will reimagine Valentine Day and join National Standing on the Side of Love Day……Valentine’s Day Re-imagined on Sunday February 14th. Join us and celebrate a Valentine’s Day re-imagined. Love is about more than romance, greeting cards and chocolates. We want to celebrate love’s power to transform communities! In Massachusetts we will use that power to send postcards to our Congressmen/woman asking them to support Re. Gutierrez (D-IL) Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 (H.R. 4321)

Unitarian-Universalists active in Boston chapter of New Sanctuary Movement
Members of the Arlington Street Church, Community Church of Boston, and the Task Force on Immigration of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford are working with others to establish a Boston-area chapter of the New Sanctuary Movement. NSM, starting from a place of faith-based prophetic hospitality, seeks to unite the interfaith community around a commitment to immigrant rights and just comprehensive immigration reform. Congregations that choose to join this coalition covenant to:
· Take a public, moral stand for immigrants’ rights,
· Reveal, through education and advocacy, the actual suffering of immigrant workers and families under current and proposed legislation,
· Protect immigrants against hate, workplace discrimination, and unjust deportation.

The Massachusetts Immigration and Refugee Coalition is working on issues related to comprehensive immigration reform at the federal level, reconsideration of the Education Opportunity Act (formerly the In-State Tuition bill), Election Day voting registration and other legislative and administrative requests.
