Howard Zinn’s “The People Speak” – The All Souls Community Forum is pleased to present a special screening of the new Howard Zinn tribute film, “The People Speak,” a documentary based on Howard Zinn’s groundbreaking books A People’s History of the United States and Voices of a People’s History of the United States. The documentary shows the rich history of dissent in our nation’s history, and explores why it is so relevant and urgent today. Journey to Freedom: An Inspirational Story of Moral Courage
JOURNEY TO FREEDOM tells the story of Waitstill Sharp, a Unitarian minister, and his wife Martha, a social worker, who just days prior to the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia left their young children in Wellesley, MA to embark on an uncertain journey as the first commissioners of the Unitarian Service Committee (now the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee or UUSC). At a time when most Americans were either ignorant of or indifferent to the clouds of war gathering over Europe, this unassuming pair of New Englanders plunged into the storm.
