And Call to Action Now through March 26

RAISE UP THE STATEHOUSE

Have you heard the news?
On March 13 the Massachusetts House Speaker took an important step by calling for an increase in the minimum wage to $10.50 an hour for workers across the state.  It’s our voices together as people of faith, workers, and community members from all over Massachusetts that has brought us this far!
But we need to make our voices heard again now, because unfortunately the bill barely includes tipped workers, and it fails to secure the minimum wage to cost of living rises, meaning its value will start eroding immediately.  Will you speak up for a minimum wage bill that will truly Raise Up Massachusetts workers?
Our legislators need to be reminded that voters overwhelmingly support a strong bill – this past Fall we signed petitions in record numbers for a minimum wage bill that included features like indexing & a strong tipped minimum wage!

CALL!
1. Find your state representative here
2. Call the legislature at 617-722-2000: Follow the instructions to be directed to your legislator’s office.
3. Identify yourself as their constituent & tell them you are calling in support of:
•    Raising the minimum wage to at least $10.50 an hour
•    Ensuring that the minimum wage keeps pace with the cost of living by indexing future increases to inflation.
•    A real raise in the tipped minimum wage, like the ballot question’s raise to 60% of the minimum wage.  (It’s been stuck at 33% for fifteen years!)
–> And ask them whether they will urge Speaker DeLeo to include these popular & crucial pieces!

RALLY!
On Wednesday, March 26th at 10:00am we will be coming together as Raise Up Massachusetts and taking our message to Beacon Hill as we Raise Up the State House! It’s time to show up and make sure our lawmakers follow through with a minimum wage bill that leaves no one behind!  We need all hands on deck!  Will you join us?

For months, activists across Massachusetts have been meeting with and calling their legislators to urge them to support a higher minimum wage without cuts to unemployment benefits. But we’re not the only ones talking. Corporate lobbyists have been flocking to Beacon Hill, hoping to block our efforts to ensure greater economic stability for thousands of workers in Massachusetts.

It’s important, now more than ever, that we make a strong stand at the State House to show our elected officials the power of our movement.

On March 26, we’re taking our message straight to Beacon Hill. Join us for a rally and lobby day at the State House to make sure our voices are heard loud and clear. We’ll hear from community, labor and faith leaders, as well as low wage workers themselves, about what a higher minimum wage would mean for thousands of residents across the state, and then we’ll take those messages straight to our legislators.
