This year we celebrate not only the hundreds of people we've freed with your support, but also the community partnerships we've built in this movement to end pretrial supervision and detention.
This year, we were part of the ACLU-MA's What a Difference a DA Makes campaign, in which, along with partners at Families for Justice as Healing, we designed and implemented the CourtWatch MA program. From May 2018 – September 2018, our volunteers watched in at least one court everyday; 162 court watchers completed 219 shifts in fewer than 180 days! Along with numerous grassroots organizations, we led the charge to prevent disastrous changes to our bail laws in the Criminal Justice Reform Bill legislation, passed in 2018. Finally, starting December 3rd, we will hold our "Home for the Holidays" end-of-year bailout where, along with our partners at Black Lives Matter Boston, we will be bailing people directly from Dorchester District Court.
