We thank everyone who supported our legislative priority bills since the beginning of this legislative session, which started in January 2025. Whether you sent an email, made a call, joined UU Advocacy Day, chanted at the State House, or shared a call to action, your efforts have been critical to bring attention to the needs of MA communities. As one of the least efficient legislatures in the country, it takes all the more people power to move our legislators to act.

We celebrate the progress we have made, and acknowledge how much more we need from our state leaders to support MA communities. There is more to be done, and we know that we can only achieve our vision of a more just world through our collective organizing. We will continue to organize to fight for a MA where all can thrive.

Immigration Justice: Last week, Gov Healey signed into law the PROTECT Act. While we celebrate that this includes important steps forward, we know more is needed to truly protect our communities. Some of our priorities through our organizing with the People's PROTECT Act Coalition made it through. Read the full statement here.

Climate Justice: The legislature is still considering passing a climate bill this fall, following new rules from last year that enable the legislature to more readily take up bills after July 31 if they are in Conference Committee. We will continue our organizing on this campaign into the fall! You can read Mass Power Forward's letter to the conference committee here with updated priorities.
Housing Justice: This campaign built enormous power in this past session. Though rent control will not be on the ballot this fall, and the bill did not move forward before the end of the session, we ended the session with a clear message: We will be back!
Decarceration: We're heartbroken and outraged to share that the legislature DID NOT PASS Families for Justice as Healing's bills that were ready and waiting in Ways & Means: The Jail and Prison Construction Moratorium, Elder and Medical Parole, and the MA Survivors Act. The Visitation Bill similarly did not make it out Ways and Means. Our communities expected and deserved more, and we will continue to organize.
